Hair Masks Galore

I have been working on this post for a long time now. It takes a while to tell if you like a hair product and even longer to finish them, and even longer when it comes to hair masks. I will admit I am the first to neglect my hair care, for some reason I do not like to spend a lot of money on haircare products. They just don't do it for me. But when I use a nice hair product I am obsessed. So I decided to push myself and buy a couple new masks to try, but then I had to use them all. So this has been going on for a while now, but it's finally here! This post focuses on hair treatments and masks. I will be sure to write a post completely dedicated to a haircare routine in the future.

Sephora Collection Hair Sleeping Mask

I don't know why I dragged my feet for so long to use this mask, I think it was because I didn't want to wear a shower cap overnight while I slept. What if it kept me up all night? I don't want to deal with a sleepless night. Instead over wearing it overnight I decided to use this when I had a full day to myself at home. I literally walked around my house wearing this hair mask with a shower cap over it all day. In retrospect I think I could have slept in it since the actually shower cap is made of a soft fabric instead of a plastic material. Plus, it had coconuts printed on it, how cute! This really did keep my hair nice and soft, and I like that it is just one use so if you are traveling but want to use a hair mask, this is a good option. I will most likely buy the other flavors and give them a shot as well.

Garnier Fructis Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask

I love how you can buy this in different sizes. I have shorter hair so it takes me forever to finish products, and I can imagine people with longer/thicker hair would want to get a bigger jar. I used this mask a couple different ways. I used it the way it was advertised, as a one minute mask. After washing my hair with shampoo I put this all over, focusing on my ends, and let it sit for one minute. It really did make my hair soft and shiny without weighing it down at all. I was impressed with how quickly it worked. I hate having to let a hair mask sit in my hair for what feels like forever. This was quick and easy. I chose to go with the banana one since it smelled the best, but it comes in a variety of flavors. My sister ended up using this mask a lot since she has color treated hair, and she was in love. I am pretty sure she ended up buying one for herself to use at home.

Ouai Treatment Masque

This product is my personal favorite to travel with since it comes in a chic and convenient sachet. Rarely can you find a hair mask that doesn't come in a bulky jar that can easily spill everywhere. I knew I wanted to bring a hair mask with me to the beach but I hesitated to do so since I knew I would only need one or two uses out of it. Enter, the Ouai masque. This mask has  nice slip to it and distributes an even amount of product all over and the results are noticeable after one use. The downside of having them individually packed is that if you have a lot of hair this might not be for you, or you would have to use more than one at a time. Besides that, it's a pretty good product. I also like they recommend you put it in your hair before you work out. How convenient!

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Pure Luxury Age-Defying Hair Mask

Okay so this was the most elaborate and the most expensive out of all the masks I tried. And I didn't even use it correctly! This hair treatment actually comes with a whole system, including a heat bonnet and shower caps. To fully experience this mask you need to apply the 24K gold treatment all over, then cover your hair with the included shower cap, and then put on the bonnet (which you need to attach to a hair dryer) and heat your head for 30 minutes. Sound excessive? Yeah, because it is. I can never commit that much time to a hair treatment, let alone when it includes a hair dryer. I chose to use the mask and just let it sit in my hair for a while, and I did get some great results from that alone. I did find a video review of it which I felt showed the true commitment to using this hair mask, and the great results that come with it as well. You can see that here. I also wish you could buy the mask by itself, what if you ran out and wanted to buy it again? You don't need a new bonnet, but maybe more shower caps.

Garnier Whole Blends Avocado & Shea Butter Hair Mask

Yeah, so I have two Garnier hair masks on here, but I noticed Garnier was having a lot of hair launches all at the same time, so I decided to give two a try. This mask is definitely different than the 1 minute mask in a few ways. An obvious reason being you need to leave it in for longer than a minute. I would consider this to be a deeper treatment and the 1 minute mask to be a nice pick me up for your hair. Does that make sense? This mask is also richer in texture, and I felt like I was getting a deeper treatment while I was using it.  This mask also comes in a variety of scents, and why did I go with the avocado and shea butter? I can't really say, probably because I liked the smell of this one the most. I think between the two Garnier masks I prefer the 1 minute since it fit in with my routine more.

Kistin Ess Reconstructive Hair Mask

Probably my all time favorite since it is the perfect trio of convenience, cost effectiveness, and results! This is still affordable at $14, but granted it is a little more than some drugstore hair masks, but by no means is it outrageous. The slip on this mask is very thin so you can easily spread it throughout your strands without using a ton of product, and the results last. My hair is always soft for days and I can't stop touching it.

After this experience, I am definitely going to start changing up my hair routine. I always buy the first thing I see but I have noticed that some things are more appropriate for my hair type and texture. My plan is to post my actual routine for my hair, especially when I wear it with its natural curl.
